Thought you might enjoy this video I made of our shakedown cruise in the Nash (with both dogs!). We made a big loop from Boise to Baker City to Umatilla, up through Eastern Washington (where we got our first flat tire on the truck), back into Idaho via Lewiston, McCall, and then home.
I did manage to write one piece on Copper Belt Winery. It’s a great place way out in the boonies about 20 miles outside of Baker City Oregon. But even though we got back in late April I never found time to write up the entire trip and I may never get to it. Why? Because in the meantime I’ve recorded and produced three blogs with great guests (more on them below) and also because right after we got back I started in on the project from hell.
First step was to change my website address from terimurrison.com to
https://terisdoingit.com
. That led to redoing my website, logo, and bunch of other stuff, none of which was easy. In fact, it’s taken me over a month to get it mostly all done. Did I retire? Yikes!
The podcast is easily my new favorite activity (after road trips, of course) even though it carries with it its own technological challenges (who knew?). I talked to the amazing mystery novelist John DeDakis (Part 1 and Part 2) in April, literary adventure travel writer, the incomparable Tim Cahill (Part 1 and Part 2) in May, and the incredible attorney and explorer David Concannon (his episodes launch July 1st – watch for them on YouTube). In fact, if you subscribe to my channel there you’ll never miss an episode!
Soon we travel to Minneapolis, then it’s back to Northern California for a reunion with old friends, and on to my favorite travel writers’ summer camp in Corte Madera. The grand kids think we’ve abandoned them! We love them but… do we have to come home?
Of course, when I travel I write. I plan to do that but will also continue learning this vlogging stuff on the side. In preparation, I got a gimbal stabilizer for my camera (kinda like a big automated selfie-stick that will help me do some amazing effects IF I learn how to use i), and some remote lapel mics to use to interview anyone interesting that I meet along the way.
So, look for more FREE newsletters, videos, AND podcasts in the upcoming months. I hope you enjoy them as much as I like making them! And don’t look for me on terimurrison.com anymore. I’ll be transitioning off. Take a look at the new site. I really like the way you can search by categories and tags. And how it separates the blog posts from the podcasts! Eventually I’ll add to the Road Trips and Destinations from past and future trips and you’ll be able to find anything you want to reference or read again.
Finally, since it’s been while, I thought it would be a good idea to make sure you still want to receive my news. If so, please sign up at https://terisdoingit.com. If you don’t get around to it I won’t kick you off, but I’d sure appreciate it. And please, tell a friend!
Carpe diem!
